What are the standout new products in the access industry that you need to know about?

Lift and Access is proud to reveal its winners of the 14th annual Leadership in Lifting Equipment and Aerial Plaftorms (LLEAP) Awards, which recognize the most innovative new products in the access industry.

The awards honor eight products in four categories, including aerial lifts, material handlers, features/essential components, and aftermarket support products & services.

JLG’s Mobile Control App for its R Series scissor line enables users to drive, steer, and load models while in a stowed position from an iOS mobile device.  The app allows operators to have a better view of the jobsite while moving equipment, which improves safety and reduces potential damage to the work environment.

GMG’s Ramp Control reduces concerns of an over-speed condition during a slab scissor lift's descent on a ramp. It automatically places the machine in low speed (Turtle Mode) if the machine is going downhill until the operator turns it off after returning to a flat surface. It controls the descent without affecting gradeability by understanding the position of the platform, the angle degree of the ramp; direction of the machine on the ramp; and position of the joystick.

The Trojan Trillium Intelligent Lithium battery offers a superior cell and design paired with built-in diagnostics and a life expectancy over 5,000 cycles. Trillium’s advanced diagnostics include a visual state-of-charge gauge on the top of the battery, and its CAN bus system shares data with other devices. A microprocessor ensures the battery is completely self-protected, and if a problem is detected, it will turn itself off. When a problem goes away, it turns back on, automatically self-healing

JCB’s 512-56 Loadall with a 74-hp JCB EcoMAX engine makes it the first 12,000-lb. telehandler that requires no diesel particulate filter (DPF), no diesel engine fluid (DEF), and no other engine aftertreatment.

The Magni RTH 13.26 SH offers a maximum lifting capacity of 28,600 lbs., whether on stabilizers or on rubber tires for pick and carry. At its maximum lifting height of 86 ft., it can lift 17,600 lbs., and it has a maximum reach of 70 ft., where it can lift 4,000 lbs.

The ReachMaster Bluelift B35-EB is designed specifically to address applications in shopping malls, airports, hospitals, and museum locations, or any location where operator needs to go up, over, and out from a handrail and then descend to work below level. The compact lift does this through an elevator system, mounted to the jib. Once an operator swings the unit out over a handrail, the jib is lowered to the vertical position, creating a system that runs along the jib like an extension and elevator for the basket.

Ever wonder what goes into selecting the winners for the Leadership in Lifting Equipment and Aerial Platforms (LLEAP) Awards, presented by Lift and Access?

Let me tell you, it’s a pretty big deal.

I recently had the opportunity to serve as a guest on the Access Nation podcast, hosted by Phil Duane, owner of Schempp Wholesale Re-rent. Duane, who draws on his experience in the access equipment rental industry with roles at Snorkel, Altec, and JLG, asked me about the LLEAP Awards’ process, including:
