100,000th JLG Boom Lift Sold at Private Auction

Following a private auction held exclusively for authorized JLG dealers, Skyworks Equipment Rental of Buffalo, N.Y. was the successful bidder for the 100,000th boom lift produced in North America by McConnellsburg, Pa.-based JLG Industries. JLG will donate a portion of the proceeds from the auction to volunteer fire departments in McConnellsburg, Bedford, and Shippensburg, Pa., which provide fire protection for JLG's main U.S. manufacturing plants.

On presenting the 100,000th boom lift to Skyworks, Craig Paylor, senior vice president of marketing for JLG, stated, “We were delighted to learn that Skyworks was the successful bidder on this milestone machine. Although less than six years old, the company principals have a long history with JLG.

Jerry R. Reinhart, son of aerial rental pioneer and Lift and Access LLEAP Awards judge Jerry L. Reinhart, founded Skyworks Equipment Rental in February 2001. “The aerial rental business and JLG have been part of my life since I was a young boy,” said Jerry R. Reinhart. “I can remember my father buying a centennial JLG lift in 1976 that was painted in patriotic red, white and blue colors. It was a very special machine and I was on hand when my father took delivery.” Likewise a third generation of Reinharts got to see keys exchange hands when the 7-year-old son of Skyworks' president joined in the celebration.

“Hopefully some day he'll look back on this special occasion and be able to celebrate a JLG milestone with his child. Who knows, maybe he'll buy the millionth boom lift from JLG,” said Jerry R. Reinhart.

Skyworks has facilities in Buffalo, Syracuse and Rochester, N.Y., and is currently planning to open additional locations in New York and Ohio in early 2007.
