ANSI Approves New A92 Standard for Airline Ground Support Vehicle-Mounted Vertical Lift Devices

The Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA) announces approval of the new ANSI/SAIA A92.7-2014 for Airline Ground Support Vehicle-Mounted Vertical Lift Devices standard.

ANSI/SAIA A92.7-2014 for Airline Ground Support Vehicle-Mounted Vertical Lift Devices was approved by the ANSI Board of Standards Review on March 4, 2014. Conforming parties have until September 26, 2014 to be compliant with the standard.

“As chairperson of this subcommittee I want to thank its members for an outstanding job in re-commissioning this standard for the airline industry.  Likewise, the A92 main committee’s input during the balloting process was most appreciated.  We now need to bring awareness to the manufactures, owners, users and operators of Ground Support Equipment as well as the airline safety people regarding their respective responsibilities. The vast changes made to the standard as it applies to operator safety and training is paramount and must be fully comprehended by the various stakeholders referenced above”, said Bob Backer, A927 Committee Chair.

The SAIA would also like to thank members of the ASC A92 Main Committee and the A92.7 subcommittee of all the hard work, time, and dedication to developing a standard to ensure safe practices of airline ground support vehicle-mounted vertical lift devices.

Information about the sale of the document will be available soon and updates can be found at www.saiaonline.org.
