Boom Truck Operator Dies from Dockside Fall

A boom truck operator died from head injuries when the boom truck tipped over and he fell more than 20 feet onto the deck of a boat in Seward, Alaska. The operator was using the boom truck at dockside to load a fishing net onto the boat below when the truck tipped and he fell out of the operator’s station and landed on the deck about 23 feet below. The boom punctured the vessel’s deck in the accident. Police said this was the second or third tipover at the docks this year, but the first they could remember involving injury. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating. - www.adn.com
