Coffing Hoists Launches New Variable Frequency Drive Hoists

Coffing Hoists, Wadesboro, N.C., now offers the EC model hoists with variable frequency drive. The compact size of the Coffing EC-V models allows neat and complete placement of the drive unit under the cover of the hoists. This new option enhances the standard hoist's features, providing for mechanical load brake, motor brake, and overload clutch.

Benefits of the variable frequency drive include load-spotting and inching capabilities. The VFD offers additional speed flexibility over standard two-speed motors. The soft starting and stopping of the unit is ideal for delicate applications. VFD also can be externally mounted to motorized trolley units.

The VFD features in-field instant programming from infinitely variable 12:1 speed ratio to any intermediate speed range. Control options include standard two-step buttons, which allow the operator to increase and maintain the lifting or lowering speeds. The optional three-step buttons allow the operator to increase, maintain, or decrease the lifting or lowering speeds.

EC-V models feature capacities ranging from to 3 tons with lifting speeds of 5 to 64 feet per minute, depending on the capacity. Standard lifts are 10, 15, and 20 feet with other lifts available. Standard push-button drop is 4 feet less than the lift. Suspension options include rigid or swivel top hook, lug, plain, geared, and motorized trolley. A full-line of accessories and options are also available.
