Comatrol Adds Proportional Flow Divider, Spool-Type Solenoid Valves

Comatrol, Easley, S.C., introduces the PFD10-OD proportional flow divider for compensated flow sharing between two motors or hydraulic circuits.  This circuit-saver solution takes the input flow and delivers precise flow management, providing engineers with a new tool for distributing flow on their applications.

The PFD10-OD is an electro-proportional, compensated, normally open, flow dividing, pre-engineered HIC. When there is no current applied to the coils, the inlet flow is divided equally between the work ports A and B, with flows up to 40 LPM (10.7 GPM). The flow ratio between the two ports will proportionally vary as current is provided to the coils (from 0 to 40 LPM out each work port).  The valve’s internal pressure compensation of both work ports provide the precise, repeatable and load-independent flow control to both work ports / circuits.

Emanuele Vezzani, Comatrol account manager, shares, “We originally created this product for a unique customer application, building off our existing products and circuit expertise, and in the end came up with a design that we feel can find many homes with our customers.  As we’ve shared this new compensated flow divider concept with customers, applications quickly come to mind where they could apply this pre-engineered solution.”

Dual circuits or motors continuously require flow, and need to proportionally manage the amount of flow between them.  Additionally, the built-in pressure compensator provides repeatable flow sharing performance, regardless of the loads on the circuits or motors.

The PFD10-OD is a pre-engineered HIC that can be ordered using its nomenclature to specify options needed for the application, like coil voltage and termination, port sizes, and seals. The aluminum manifold design is optimized for a small space claim on the vehicle, with two mounting holes provided as standard.

The coils are designed for incorporation on machine control architecture that utilizes Sauer‐Danfoss PLUS+1 hardware.  Adding PFD10-OD to your application using PLUS+1 GUIDE software is as easy as drag-and-drop.

Comatrol also has introduced the SV15 high-flow solenoid valves. This collection of 11 new cartridge valves offers flows up to 60 LPM (16 GPM), providing customers with a technical alternative to some CETOP D03 (NG6) valves.  Additionally, the SV15 family enhances Comatrol’s existing portfolio of spool-type solenoid valves, now with 46 different valves to choose from for on-off directional flow control. The larger cavity provided by the 15 size allows for higher flow capacity than many similar cartridge and CETOP D03 products in the market.

“What is missing in the market today is a range of high-flow valves that cover two-way, three-way, and four-way solenoid valves to provide our customers with higher flow capacity for their bigger machines using larger cylinders and motors,” said Ulrich Maurmann, Comatrol account manager. “Using the 15 size cartridge cavity over CETOP allows our HIC designers to make larger passageways in the manifolds, thus reducing pressure losses in the system.”

With this range of 11 high flow, spool-type solenoid valves with maximum flow capacities of 50-60 LPM (13-16 GPM), customers have the flexibility to apply the right product for each application. For additional application flexibility, Comatrol’s full complement of spool-type solenoid valves now come in four cavity sizes—08, 09, 10 and 15—and flow ranges from 6 LPM (1.6 GPM) to 60 LPM (16 LPM).  The SV15 valves have a rated pressure of 210 bar (3000 psi), based on NFPA fatigue test standards (at 1 million cycles).

The SV15 has a proven track record with over 50,000 valves already applied on many applications around the world. Comatrol solenoid valves, including the SV15s, are proven products in mobile and industrial applications.

Additional optional features include, depending on the valve, 300-micron filter to protect the actuator from large particles, a push-pin manual override, and coils with diodes, and AC current.  Comatrol’s SV15 coils are designed for incorporation on machine control architecture that utilizes Sauer‐Danfoss PLUS+1 hardware.  Adding SV15 Series valves to your application using PLUS+1 GUIDE software is as easy as drag-and-drop.
