Crane Accident Takes Out Power Lines | Construction News

A truck-mounted crane that was moving a seven-ton refrigeration unit from a building in Branson, Mo., tipped over onto power lines, leaving many businesses without electricity and phone service for five hours. When the operator swung the suspended load over the side of the boom truck, the vehicle tipped and the crane boom came to rest on power and phone lines. The crane’s operator said the rig tipped because its supporting outriggers were sitting on soft ground. A second crane and two large tow trucks were used to stabilize and upright the tipped crane. There were no injuries. – www.bransontrilakesnews.com
