Crews Clean Up Diesel after Aerial Lift Falls into River | Construction News

A hazmat team and a crew from a construction contractor are cleaning up a spill of diesel fuel from the Brunette River in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, after an aerial lift fell into the river when a soft bank gave way.

The lift had been working on a highway bridge that spans the river and was being towed on a service road alongside the river when the bank collapsed, causing the lift to fall in. No one was hurt in the accident.

Hazmat crews and construction workers cordoned off the accident site and laid floating booms on the river to corral the spilled diesel fuel until the lift can be removed from the river and the diesel fuel is cleaned up.
