Falling Rocks Injure Worker in Scissor Lift | Construction News

Falling rocks injured a worker trying to secure an unstable section of rock ceiling in a storage cave near Quincy, Ill.

The workman, who was in a scissor lift at the time of the accident, is employed by a contractor that the storage facility's owner had hired to repair the cave ceiling. The rocks fell as the worker tried to install bolts to secure the area of rock that had potential to fall, said a local fire-department spokesperson.

The worker freed himself from the debris before emergency workers arrived. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The area was roped off until inspectors determined whether work could continue. – www.connecttristates.com
