Farmer Injured when Crane Hits Power Lines

Preston, Md., December 2012—A farmer was rushed to the hospital after the crane he was using touched live power lines. Maryland State Police (MSP) said the farmer was hoisting a part to the top of a grain silo when the crane’s load line swung into nearby power lines. Electricity ran through the crane and was grounded through the farmer, who lost consciousness and was taken to a nearby hospital. The victim is expected to make a full recovery. MSP and the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Division are investigating.  – www.wboc.com
