Forklift Manufacturer Harlo Announces Product Improvements | Construction News

Forklift manufacturer Harlo Products, Grandville, Mich., announced recent improvements to its rough-terrain forklifts at the American Rental Association’s The Rental Show last week.

Michael Frey, Harlo’s national sales and marketing manager, said that as of January, 2014, the company now offers an optional electronic joystick control in place of the traditional bank of long-throw hydraulic control levers on machines equipped with a John Deere diesel engine. Frey says that the electronic joystick control simplifies operation and makes control more accurate.

In addition, Harlo is now using a new standard muffler on all of its models, whether they are equipped with a John Deere or Cummins diesel engine. The new muffler makes the forklift 20% quieter than the previous muffler did.

In another new development, Harlo now offers custom paint colors to match customer requirements. Frey says that the new option is particularly attractive to fleet owners who want their Harlo products to match other equipment in their inventories.

At The Rental Show, Harlo also announced that it now offers EZ Ride load cushioning as an option. The EZ Ride system uses a hydraulic accumulator to reduce load bounce and give better control and smoothness as a lift travels over bumpy or uneven ground.

During an interview at the show, Frey said that in late January or early February, Harlo was federally certified as a minority-owned business.
