Illini Hi-Reach Inc., a construction-equipment rental company serving metropolitan Chicago, northern Illinois, and northwestern Indiana, is moving its headquarters from Lemont, Ill., to Crown Point, Ind.

Construction has begun on the new 30,000-sq.-ft. headquarters building that will sit on a 6-acre site just 300 yards from an interchange for a major interstate highway. Illini Hi-Reach is investing $13.6 million on the new location, which will house office, warehouse, and shop facilities. The company expects the new headquarters to be up and running by November.

The current 10,000-sq.-ft. headquarters location in Lemont will remain in operation as a branch office, along with Illini Hi-Reach’s existing branches: a 10,000-sq.-ft. facility in South Beloit, Ill., and a smaller shop on 7 acres in East Dundee, Ill. The new Crown Point, Ind., headquarters will become the company’s fourth location.

Illini Hi-Reach president Larry D. Workman said the new headquarters will let the company to better serve construction, industrial, and commercial segments in northwest Indiana, as well as help it expand into new across Indiana and Michigan. Workman also cited Indiana’s business-friendly economic climate as part of the reason for the move.

Independently owned and operated since 1993, Illini Hi-Reach rents and sells scissor lifts, boom lifts, and telehandlers, with about 1,000 units available for rental. It has been a JLG-authorized parts and service center for a decade.
