IPAF Offers Tips on Managing Powered Access Equipment | Construction News

Rental companies and contractors can refer to an IPAF good-practice guide for a list of some of the key points that should be considered when managing any type of mobile elevating work platform (MEWP), know in North America as aerial work platforms (AWP).

In researching and producing “Management of MEWPs – Good Practice for Rental Companies and Contractors”, the International Powered Access Federation consulted manufacturers, contractors, rental companies, and other interested parties.

While this good practice guide was produced following requests for guidance on managing “large and complex” AWPs, IPAF’s members believe that the key principles of good work-platform management apply to all types of aerial work platforms, not just those that are “large and complex.”

The document guides rental companies and contractors through the entire process from planning and ordering equipment, through delivery and operation. It can be downloaded at the Publications/Technical Guidance section of www.ipaf.org

More information about IPAF’s MEWPs for Managers course can also be found at www.ipaf.org/m4m.
