JCB Telehandler Lifts an Oscar | Construction News

A JCB Loadall telescopic handler has been playing a leading role in Hollywood, ensuring that the most glittering event on the global showbiz calendar is ready to take place on Sunday evening, February 28.

Greeting the stars when they arrive for the 88th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard will be giant versions of the statue they all hope to take home--an Oscar.

A JCB 512-56 Loadall telescopic handler has been lifting larger-than-life versions of the world-famous Oscar statue into place around the theater.  Able to lift up to 56 ft. and handle up to 12,000 lbs., the JCB 512-56 made quick work of putting the 24-foot-high statues into position. In comparison, the miniature versions coveted by the stars stand just 13½ in. high and weigh just over 8 lbs.

The telehandler doing the heavy lifting is owned by Alliance Rental Solutions, Valencia, Calif., which specializes in providing heavy equipment to studios in Los Angeles. Their eagle-eyed employee, Erick Campuzano, snapped photos of the JCB telescopic handler hard at work.

Robert Lara, sales manager for JCB of Southern California, sold the machine to Alliance Rental Solutions.

“Alliance Rental Solutions is one of our most important customers," Lara said. "It’s fantastic to see their JCB Loadall telescopic handler playing such a high-profile role in the preparations for this year’s Academy Awards.”
