JLG Lays Off 325 Employees

McConnellsburg, Pa.-based JLG Industries laid off 210 production employees in Fulton County earlier this month. Another 115 people in the Shippensburg, Pa., plant received a similar notice, according to The Herald-Mail.

The termination of Shippensburg employees will be effective July 28; the McConnellsburg employees will complete work in June. According to the newspaper report, the layoffs were blamed on the economy and the continued downturn in residential and commercial construction.

Fewer than one-third of affected employees in McConnellsburg are involved with the military production program and will be eligible for recall because of an order from the U.S. Army. The other layoffs are considered permanent, according to the report.
