Kaydon Announces Joint Sales Initiative

Kaydon Corp., Clearwater, Fla., has announced a joint sales initiative between two of their business units, Cooper Bearings and Kaydon Bearings. This initiative by their North American sales teams will improve coverage and give customers more bearing choices from a single source. Kaydon and Cooper will continue to develop and manufacture their own product lines in their own facilities, but will now offer them through a single sales and distribution network.

“This move will leverage the combined strengths of Kaydon and Cooper while maintaining the strong, independent brand identities they have built up over many years,” said Jeff Manzagol, president of Kaydon Bearings Division.  “Together we can offer customers an expanded product range from a single point of contact, with greater efficiencies.”

The Kaydon Bearings product line includes Reali-Slim thin-section bearings, Reali-Slim TT turntable bearings, slewing ring bearings (up to 240” O.D.), and custom bearings, as well as bearing refurbishment and repair.  The Cooper Bearings Group specializes in split-to-the-shaft roller bearings.

"Together we will have a more complete product line, broader distribution sales coverage with less duplicated effort, and smaller sales territories that will allow more frequent visits with customers," said Sid VonFeldt, director of Cooper Bearings' North American operations.

Brian Short, director of distribution sales for Kaydon Bearings, is managing the joint sales initiative. It follows a successful pilot program launched in 2009, which began with one salesperson from each business unit promoting all product lines and was later expanded to other regions.
