Lift and Access has named winners of its Leadership in Lifting Equipment and Aerial Platforms (LLEAP) Awards, which are intended to recognize products, accessories, or design concepts that are considered innovative or have advanced the state of the lifting equipment industry. The Platinum winners for the fourth annual LLEAP Awards were Waco, Texas-based Manitou for its MHT Series telehandlers and La Farlede, France-based Made-SA for its Sky Mx power line detection system.
In addition to the top overall winners, one Gold and one Silver winner were selected in each category.
Gold: JLG LiftPod
Silver: Genie Industries S-60 and S-65 Trax Boom Lifts
A panel of industry experts served as judges for the LLEAP Awards. Judges looked critically at each product before scoring the products on a scale from 1 to 10 in categories of innovation, influence, benefit and leadership. The Lift and Access staff then tallied the votes and took the average of the rankings after throwing out top and bottom scores to eliminate bias.
Judges this year included Steve Citron, product development industry veteran; Howard Kaplan, safety director, Southwest Industrial Rigging; Matt Rocca, president and CEO, GAR Equipment Corp.; Steve Shaughnessy, managing director, Loxam Access UK; Jeff Stachowiak, national director of safety, Sunbelt Rentals; Lance Sullivan, fleet product and service manager, Sunstate Equipment Co.; Edmond Tamas, construction support engineer, Fluor Corporation; and Larry Zaback, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Coast Crane Co. Lift and Access staff also served as judges.
