Longtime United Rentals Sales Employee Dies

United Rentals, Greenwich, Conn., is mourning the passing last week of Michael Sullivan, a longtime sales employee. Sullivan began his career in 1983 with McClinch Equipment and continued with United Rentals, building a reputation as an accomplished sales professional in the New York area.
“Mike was the most well-known sales professional in the New York market, and truly a legend,” Kevin Parr of United Rentals said of Sullivan, who generated well over $150 million in revenue over his 27-year career. “He always maintained the highest integrity and was one of the most likeable people you could meet. Working with Mike for the past 10 years I gained even more respect for him, as he was a truly great person and a passionate professional.” United Rentals co-workers recalled that Sullivan struggled to ever say, “No!”

According to United Rentals, Sullivan’s accomplishments include supplying lift equipment in the 1980s to the original Jacob Javits Convention Center and World Trade Center projects, as well as transacting multiple million dollar sales of new equipment to the New York City Transit Authority.  More recently, according to the company, he was involved in arranging a large sale to an overseas customer, and was very active in many contractor associations and charities.

Sullivan is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his children Matthew and Megan; and his granddaughter Adrianna.
