Manitex Offers Long-Boom Version of 50-ton Boom Truck

Manitex, Georgetown , Texas , has added a second model to its 5002S boom truck series. The 50110S, is a 50-ton boom truck featuring a five-section, 110-foot boom. It joins the similarly-rated 5096S, introduced last year, but with longer boom. According to Randy Robertson, director of sales and marketing, preliminary load charts ratings for the 50110S put it in a class capable of replacing older 60-ton truck cranes. “It can lift as much as 3,660 pounds at a 100-foot radius and close to 1,000 pounds at a 150-foot radius he says.

Featuring gross vehicle weight of 60,500 pounds, “it is very roadable and bridge legal,” explains Robertson.

Other features include a two-section 32- to 49-foot telescopic offset jib. When equipped, the jib extends tip height to 164 feet.

The hoist drum features a two-speed motor, double reduction planetary, grooved drum hoist with negative draft flange and rope tensioner as standard. Hoist drum rotation indicator will be standard equipment on units shipping in May.

A fully enclosed cab is standard. Retracted, intermediate and fully-extended outrigger load charts are available and outriggers are controlled by radio remote, a feature known as ROC Solid Outriggers. Outriggers are equipped with audible motion alarm. There is also a load chart for lifting on tires over the rear. For information, go to www.manitex.com.
