NBIS Expands Specialized Transport Risk Management Team

Atlanta, Ga.-based NationsBuilders Insurance Services, (NBIS), the only insurance and risk management program endorsed by the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA), has announced three major additions to its heavy haul risk management support team. This team is being enlarged in conjunction with the recently expanded NBIS Underwriting Authority with the Tower Insurance Group, a leading insurance and risk-management services company based in New York, N.Y.

Harvey Medress, the new team leader, has more than 25 years of service in the trucking industry, working for Schneider National in both human resources and operations roles. As part of the management team for the heavy haul division, he was involved in driver hiring, driver management, safety and customer service. In addition, he led the fleet consulting team for a large insurance brokerage firm, Marsh and McLennan.

Ron Kipp's 30 years in the trucking industry at Schneider National and Transport America includes 17 years in heavy haul. As vice president of operations, he led and managed driver management, customer service, driver recruiting, over-dimensional permits and maintenance departments.

During his 35 years in the transportation industry, Dennis Loy has held various safety management roles in the dry freight and bulk segments at Schneider National. Additionally, he led the national fleet loss control efforts for Marsh and McLennan, managing a pool of five full-time fleet safety specialists, 12 internal safety generalists and six outside independent contractors.

"We are very proud to have attracted such high-caliber experts to NBIS," said Kevin Cunningham, NBIS executive vice president. "This new team brings a significant upgrade to our risk management delivery for SC&RA members involved with specialized hauling."

Cunningham noted the three new team members will report to Billy Smith, senior vice president of risk management, and will work closely with Tim Conlon, vice president of claims and risk mitigation, and Robert Moore, chief legal officer.

"Our association welcomes the involvement of these three experts," said Joel Dandrea, SC&RA executive vice president. "We are quite confident they will produce quantifiable results and a high degree of overall value to the specialized transport component of the program."
