New Genie RT Boom Offers Better Performance and Lower Ownership Costs

Genie has introduced the next generation of the Genie Z-45/25 rough terrain articulating boom lift. The redesigned 45 ft. boom combines the latest performance technology with new service features to further enhance the Genie boom family. The Z-45/25 RT is currently in production and available to the ANSI market. The CE version is slated for production in Italy, mid- 2013.

“The new Z-45/25 RT has been redesigned to satisfy the current needs of our rental customers by meeting the latest performance standards,” said Mike Northcott, booms product manager, Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP). “By improving performance and streamlining equipment service, the Z-45/25 will be an even better solution for the challenges of today’s jobsites.”

Key performance features include an updated drive system that produces 24 % more tractive effort than the previous model, resulting in greater terrainability and provides true four wheel drive and four wheel braking. The Z-45/25 RT offers a maximum working height of 51' 10" and an up and over clearance of 23' 5". With a 500 lb. lift capacity, the unit positions workers and tools where they need to be.  It is also a lighter weight machine than before, providing reduced floor loading and greater maneuverability and jobsite performance. Compared to its predecessor, overall weight has been reduced by up to 1,100 lbs. for jib models and 575 lbs. for non-jib models.

The Z-45/25 RT also offers owners simplified serviceability and lower cost of ownership. Larger doors and swing out trays provide faster and easier access to the front and back of the engine compartment, as well as to filters and electrical components for faster maintenance and troubleshooting. Cost of ownership is reduced through less expensive replacement parts, such as the unit’s smaller standard tires, and increased parts and component commonality across similar Genie booms.

Starting in April 2013, the Z-45/25 RT will be offered with new Tier 4 Final compliant engines from Deutz or Perkins, for applicable regions.

Genie will continue to offer the Z-45/25 RT with dual fuel capability, and as bi-energy units.
