New Twin-Deck RT Scissors, Articulating Boom Bring Excitement to Snorkel

Snorkel, Elwood, Kan., will showcase the S6090RT, one of four 60-foot twin-deck rough-terrain scissor lifts the company will introduce at ConExpo. Additionally, Snorkel will introduce the A62JRT articulating boom lift at the show.

Preliminary specs for the S6090RT include a lift capacity of 1,250 pounds, an overall width of 90 inches, and a platform height of 60 feet. With the standard dual-deck extensions fully extended, the work area is nearly 24 feet long.

Powered by a 44-hp Kubota water-cooled diesel engine, the S6090RT is the largest in Snorkel's new RT scissor lift product range. Other twin-deck RT scissor lifts will feature platform heights of 32, 43, and 52 feet. Platform capacities of up to 2,000 pounds are provided on the smaller scissor lifts. All units will have platforms that measure 72"x287" when extended. The S6090RT include auto-leveling hydraulic outriggers, and customers can specify no stabilizers for smaller units used in applications with level ground. The scissor lifts have four-wheel drive, high-grip tires, and standard oscillating axles with a 14 inches of ground clearance.

Polaris 60-foot boom lift

Snorkel also will add to its Polaris mid-sized boom lift range with the launch of the A62JRT articulated rough terrain boom lift. The A62JRT replaces Snorkel's AB60 model.

Preliminary specifications are for a platform height of 62 feet, outreach of 42 feet, and an up-and-over clearance height of 30 feet. An 8-foot jib and 8-foot wide, three-way entry platform with 500 pounds of capacity enhance the flexibility of this machine.

The A62JRT is the first articulated boom on Snorkel’s common Polaris chassis, which was first introduced in 2010 on the T46JRT telescopic boom. According to Snorkel, using a common chassis across several mid-size models—including the forthcoming T66JRT—provides customers with ease of maintenance and low cost of operation.

Richard Tindale, Snorkel sales & marketing director, said: “We are really excited about the new A62JRT. Together with the recently launched A46JRT, T46JRT and T66JRT, it provides us with a range of mid-sized booms which deliver a performance equal to or better than any other product on the market, while retaining Snorkel’s trump card of easy service, trouble-shooting and repair.

“The Polaris boom family and our newly extended range of twin-deck scissors mean we are very well placed to take advantage of the forthcoming upturn in demand for new aerial lifts in construction applications”.
