Notre Dame Scissor Lift Fatality Investigation Continues

According to the South Bend Tribune, two separate investigations continue to take place after the October death of a University of Notre Dame student. He died from massive internal injuries after the scissor lift he was elevated in toppled over.

The news report states that Indiana OSHA's review of the accident is continuing with no timetable set for when results will be released. The university's internal investigation is being overseen by John Affleck-Graves, Notre Dame's executive vice president. Once the university investigation concludes, it will turn over the material for independent review by former University of Arizona President Peter Likins, who is a trained engineer and will provide a complete analysis and recommendations. The report also said the university is committed to making the results of its findings public.
