Platform Safely Adds Height to Scissor Lifts | Powered Access

Man Lift Manufacturing (MLM), Cudahy, Wis., now offers a scissor-lift platform attachment that safely adds 20 in. of height to a standard scissor lift.

The new attachment, named the SHU, replaces the extension deck on a scissor lift to provide access to narrow spaces in ceiling grids, between joists, or other tight spots. MLM says the SHU should help eliminate the temptation to use unsafe practices like standing on midrails, rail-supported planks, or buckets.

The patent-pending attachment complies with OSHA, ANSI, and CSA requirements, and has been approved by Terex/Genie for use on its 30-in. and 46-in. wide scissor lifts manufactured from 2004 through today.

The easy-to-install SHU replaces the scissor lift’s extension deck. Mounting is as easy as removing the lift’s extension deck, positioning the SHU atop the scissor lift’s main platform, and securing the SHU with its mounting hardware. A built-in step simplifies access from the scissor lift’s main platform to the SHU’s elevated platform.

The SHU for a 30-in. wide scissor lift features an elevated platform that measures 21.5” wide x 24.8” long and has 250 lbs. of capacity. The SHU attachment weighs 155 lbs.

The SHU also includes railings and anchors for fall-protection equipment.

MLM will display introduce the SHU to the rental industry in booth 4781 at the American Rental Association’s The Rental Show in February, 2014. More information is available on the MLM website.
