SAIA Releases Hanging Scaffold Guidelines

The Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA) and the SAIA Industrial Council are pleased to announce the development of Hanging Scaffold Guidelines.

The Hanging Scaffold Guidelines are intended to provide loading/design, anchorage/suspension erection /dismantling guidelines of a temporary work platform without support from below, secured to an overheard structure using fixed length rigid suspension members. This tool should be used by all persons who erect, use, relocate or dismantle hanging scaffold systems.

“As scaffold tools and applications change, the information and instructions to support those changes must also change. In keeping with the mission of the Scaffold & Access Industry Association Industrial Council’s “to be a resource and advocate for positive and safe change,” a need was recognized as more hanging types platforms were being built in industrial applications. Little information exists as to the proper assembly of these platforms so the Council set out to develop certain guidelines for these unique applications. With the input and assistance from a number of SAIA members, we are pleased to offer guidelines for hanging scaffolds,” said Darrell Domokos, SAIA Industrial Council chair.
