The Scaffold and Access Industry Association (SAIA) Business Trend Report is a 48-page report that covers scaffold and access manufacturers, distributors, rental/rental fleet and contractor trends in the commercial and industrial industry.
The SAIA Business Index is a survey modeled after the widely followed ISM Purchasing Manager’s Index. The resulting output is a seasonally adjusted diffusion index which measures the quarter-to-quarter change in the following categories: Billing, Pricing, New Bookings, Backlog, Outlook, Supplier Deliveries, Employment, and Accounts Receivable. A reading of 50 indicates no change.
SAIA member participants predict a 7% growth for 2014. Additionally, participation showed, compared to the third quarter 2012, contractor sales grew from a 13% growth in the second quarter of 2013 to 18% in the third quarter and that new bookings rose 43% year-over-year, similar to the second quarter.
