SC&RA Offers Education and Resource Services to Members and Non-Members

The Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association now offers educational webinars and a mobile phone app on crane hand signals.

The first webinar on OSHA’s New Cranes & Derrick Standard will be held Dec. 9, 2010. Bill Smith, executive vice president of NBIS Construction & Insurance Services, Inc., will provide a summary of the new rules outlined in 1926.1400, highlighting the changes that will impact your business. Additional information will be provided on the impact of the new B 30.5 2007 standard on the crane and rigging industry. Smith’s 18 years of regulatory experience and current responsibilities at NBIS including claim and risk management, loss prevention, safety awareness, and accident investigation allow him to provide a valuable perspective to crane companies.

The webinar is open to both members and non-members. The cost is $29 and $49, respectively. The session will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm (ET). Participants must register by Dec. 8.

In other news, the association had developed a free mobile app. Crane Operator Hand Signals is available in the iTunes App Store and Blackberry App World. You can also find it at various apps websites such as appshopper.com. Signals are shown graphically and information is available in English and Spanish.
