Socage Srl, Sorbara, Italy, has received an international patent for its X-shaped chassis for aerial working platforms.

The patent's range of coverage includes the United States and Canada, and Socage says it intends to use the chassis on models coming to North America.

The X-shape chassis of the new X-Factor chassis is interesting both for its aesthetics and for its special technical innovations.

It features four telescopic outriggers that are set tangentially to the platform’s rotation turret and are longer than common outriggers, once extended. The extra length gives the platform more stability, since the stabilization area is wider. That means longer outreach for the aerial work platform.

As shown in the drawing, the X-shape chassis is unique in that it is a rotated four-sided figure--a special innovation of Socage. The design provides the wider stabilization area with more compact equipment and a lighter structure, so the truck does not have to support a huge weight.

Because the X-shape outrigger frame is mounted directly on the truck chassis, no  and for this reason, no longerons or crossbars are needed for installation.
