Sunbelt Spending $8-Million to Expand Headquarters | Construction News

Sunbelt Rentals Inc. is spending $8 million to expand its headquarters in Fort Mill, S.C.

York County, S.C., Council Chairman Britt Blackwell hinted that the expansion will provide “significant job opportunities” for the Fort Mill area.

Sunbelt, now one of North America's larger equipment-rental companies, moved to York County in 2006 with 160 employees.

The latest count of employees at the Sunbelt headquarters was 200 in 2009.

The South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits for the project. But neither the state nor the company disclosed how many jobs will be added.

Sunbelt CEO Brendan Horgan said the company is thrilled to continue its investment in the county and state of South Carolina and appreciates all the support it has received.

Founded in 1983, Sunbelt operates 550 equipment-rental locations across the country. It’s a subsidiary of Ashtead Group of the United Kingdom.
