Talbert Manufacturing Introduces The Equalizer Dampening System for Spread-Axle Trailers

Talbert Manufacturing, Rensselaer, Ind., has introduced The Equalizer, a nitrogen-assisted dampening system that hydraulically transfers loads in all terrains. This suspension system, designed for spread-axle trailers, oscillates around a central self-tracking pivot point to provide proportionate weight distribution in each axle grouping, regardless of varying road conditions.

Designed as a simple user-friendly system, it allows operators to make easy and quick adjustments, and maintain those settings to maximize loads safely and efficiently. By hydraulically dampening axle movement and controlling load transfer, the suspension system absorbs hauling and loading shocks; providing a greater range of suspension movement for reduced stress and a smoother ride. The Equalizer is available for use with Talbert 55SA (55-ton) and 60SA (60-ton) 3+1 spread axle series trailers and axle attachments.

In addition to its advanced design, the system also incorporates a dual two-speed landing gear, making connecting the trailer to the axle attachment easier. The unique design also allows the axle attachment to be easily lifted out of the way for backing. Since no shimming is required, considerable time is also saved operationally and empty travel is possible without removing the booster and attachment. The Equalizer allows a 14’1” spread with 54-inch axle spacing; and a 14’7” spread with 60-inch axle spacing. The system is powered by a Honda gas engine power pack as standard.
