TDS Drive Names New President

Terra Drive Systems (TDS Drive), a Brookston, Ind.-based designer and manufacturer of steerable hydraulic drive systems for on- and off-highway motorized specialty equipment, announces it has named C. Phillip Joy as its new president.

For 18 years, Joy worked for Pratt & Whitney, a leader in the design, manufacture, and service of aircraft engines, industrial gas turbines, and space propulsion systems. He worked in project engineering, flight test, manufacturing and operations, and strategic planning. He led five divisions of the business and created growth in all.

Upon leaving Pratt & Whitney, Phillip became the president and CEO of Trilectron Industries, which manufactures a broad line of aircraft ground support equipment. His leadership at Trilectron, Inc. produced a three-fold growth in total sales. He then moved to the Texas-based company Stuart and Stevenson, a designer, manufacturer, and provider of specialized equipment and aftermarket parts and service for the oil and gas and other industries, where he led the company to double in size after 2.5 years under his leadership.

Joy holds a bachelor’s of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Hartford and a master’s in business administration degree (PMD) from Harvard Business School.
