Tracked Lifts Debuts Insulated Platform Basket at ICUEE

Tracked Lifts Inc., Syosset, N.Y., debuted a fully insulated version of the Platform Basket 18.90 tracked boom lift at the recent International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition (ICUEE) in Louisville, Ky. Tracked Lifts is the exclusive distributor of Platform Basket products in the United States.

Designated the 18.90/46kV, the new Platform Basket aerial platform insulates its operator with a fiberglass gap section in the lower boom, a fiberglass jib, a one-person fiberglass workbasket with liner, and dielectric hoses. It’s rated for up to 46kV.

Operation is controlled with fully proportional lever-actuated hydraulic controls located both in the basket and at the base. Tracked Lifts president Miroslaw Hrycak says the machine is designed for simplicity, so just about anyone can make repairs if they’re needed. Power comes from a 13-horsepower gasoline engine or from 110-volt plug-in when preferred, such as for indoor use.

Safety equipment includes an electro-mechanical safety and ground-pressure-monitoring system, automatic side-reach limiter, and an interlock that prevents the outriggers from being moved once the boom is activated. Locking valves are standard on all actuators.

The 18.90/46kV offers 48’6” maximum platform height; 264-pound maximum basket capacity; 27’1” side reach at full capacity; 30’10” side reach at 176-pound basket capacity; and 365° turret rotation. Its maximum outrigger spread measures 10’0” wide by 12’0” long. The basket measures 33” square by 43” deep.

The machine travels on rubber tacks at speeds to one mile per hour. Maximum up-hill gradeability is 27° (51 percent), and side-slope gradeability is 14° (25 percent). Maximum slope for deployment is 17° (30 percent).

One of the 18.90/46kV’s key features is compactness. With crawlers retracted and boom lowered, it measures just 2’9” wide, 6’3” tall, and 19’10” long with basket on. That allows it to easily travel through standard doorways. It weighs 5,000 pounds, work ready.
