Volvo CE to Launch Tier 3-Compliant Telehandlers Next Month

Volvo Construction Equipment, Shippensburg, Pa., announces it will begin production of its new Tier 3-compliant telehandler product line in August. Units with Tier 3 engines will be designated as the D-Series and will include the VR624D, VR843D, VR1044D, and VR1056D. All four models will be powered by 110-hp Cummins turbocharged diesel engines that meet the Tier 3 emissions requirements.

The D-Series also will feature GPX (Galaxy Primex) as its primary tire brand, which will be available in standard rough-terrain hard surface as pneumatic and foam-filled. Additionally, a solid rubber tire will be available in a low sidewall, which replaces the current pneumatic and foam-filled low sidewall tire option.

A new simplified quick-attach coupler now will be standard, while the current hand-lever actuated quick attach will be an option. Current attachments will fit both.

In the cab, a new console with hour meter and fuel gauge will become the standard offering. Indicator lights will replace gauges for transmission oil temperature, battery condition, engine coolant pressure, and engine oil pressure. All other indicator lights will remain the same. An optional full gauge console will be available in the future. Additionally, the current operator's station upgrade option will be available as two separate options • suspension seat and vandal cover.

Parts manuals will be provided on a CD with each machine. Printed manuals will only be available via an order through the parts department.
