Wire Rope Hoist Offers Compact Design, Performance, and Safety

Konecranes, Inc., Springfield, Ohio, has introduced the CXT® wire rope hoist, a versatile solution for crane, monorail, and replacement applications, with lifting capacities up to 80 tons. These hoists offer a compact design, exceptional performance, and superior safety.

The design of the hoist allows for reduced hook approaches and maximizes hook coverage to lift loads higher and maximize the utilization of the building footprint. They can be used in existing buildings with limited height clearance. CXT cranes can be configured to meet a wide variety of demanding applications. The hoist design is efficient and reduces headroom requirements by more than 15 percent on average.

The hoists come standard with high-performance hoisting motors that offer exceptional power and superior cooling characteristics. The high-performance hoisting motors reliably deliver the power necessary for demanding lifting applications. Designed to meet the demanding operation in high duty-cycle lifting applications, the advanced drive technology of the hoist includes standard two-speed hoist motors and variable frequency trolley drives for ease of operation while maintaining precise control of vertical and horizontal motions.

Safety features include inverter controls to deliver smooth starts, accelerations, and decelerations to minimize load swing and enable safe and accurate load positioning for travel motions. The large drum diameter reduces fleet angles, allows for minimized end-approach dimensions, and increases the lifetime of wire ropes. A limiting device, standard on every hoist, protects against crane overloading. The hoists come standard with high-performance cast-iron rope guides that prevent cross reeving and provide balanced lifting. The gears used in the hoists are manufactured with hardened and ground gear fabrication for reliable and safe operation. The high-performance brakes have an adjustment-free and dust-proof construction. Sized for safety, the hoist brakes can exceed one million duty-cycles of operation, ensuring trouble-free operation and low total cost of ownership.

The wire rope hoist is designed to handle a wide variety of lifting capacities, speeds, trolley types, duty classes, and options. Additional features include hook-activated upper limit switches; secondary hoist and drum brakes; true vertical lift and true lift reeving; inverter hoisting; load display on pendant, radio, or scoreboard; multiple hoist synchronization; monorail trolleys for patented or curved track systems, outdoor environment protection; IP-66 trolley motor protection; anti-collision protection; anti-sway systems; slack-rope detection; ControlPro advanced electronic systems monitoring; and more.

These wire rope hoists are available with low headroom trolley for single-girder cranes and monorails, double girder trolley for double-girder cranes lifting heavier loads, and normal headroom trolley for monorails, restricted side clearances, or application with curved runways.
