Toyota Material Handling USA, Irvine, Calif., announces it is now responsible for distributing Aichi scissor and boom lifts in North America. Shankar Basu, president and CEO of TMHU, which owns 51 percent of Aichi, told Lift and Access that plans for the distribution process, financial services, and product support are still being determined but will be decided within the next 60 days. Aichi USA, Glen Burnie, Md., will continue to handle distribution for its truck-mounted aerial lifts.
“I think it is good for Toyota and Aichi,” said Alan Dotts, general manager of Aichi USA. “Toyota gives Aichi the depth of support for sales, service, and distribution, and Aichi will help Toyota expand its product lines.” He added that the distribution also will help Aichi increase its customer base.
