Empire Crane Company has purchased two new 2018 Magni Rotating Telehandlers at World of Concrete in Las Vegas, NV. The two newest models, RTH6.30SH and RTH6.35SH are going to be added to Empire’s New England rental fleet and will be available immediately. Empire owner and CEO Luke Lonergan says “people love the Magni units that we currently offer and can’t say enough good things about the ease of use.

Construction Spending Flat in May

The Associated Press reports that U.S. construction spending was flat in May with homebuilding falling again, even as buyers face climbing prices and a shortage of available properties on the market.

The Commerce Department reported on Monday no increase in construction spending in May, which follows a report two weeks ago showing that housing starts fell for the third straight month.

Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. has announced the hiring of Tim Yauilla as Operations Manager for the equipment distributor’s Kansas City location, which will open in mid-summer 2017. Yauilla will be responsible for Kansas City’s branch operations, including parts, service, sales and rental operations oversight. Prior to Kirby-Smith, he spent the past 26 years with Link-Belt Construction Equipment in various roles such as Branch Manager for the Norfolk, VA area, and District Manager for the Southeastern United States.

Manitowoc Cranes has expanded its Spanish-language Crane Care training programs in Central America and the Caribbean, focusing on enhancing aftermarket service quality in the region. Unlike training sessions offered in the past, where trainees had to travel to the United States and attend classes in English, courses now give technicians who don’t speak English the chance to be trained in their native language and to avoid high travel expenses.

Skyjack's largest telescopic boom lift, the SJ86T, made its debut in spring 2015. The lift features an 86-ft. platform height with a jib that rotates 65°/-60° and has a horizontal outreach of 76'10".

The SJ86T features a 36"x96" platform and an unrestricted platform capacity of 500 lbs. Restricted capacity is set at 750 lbs.
