Universal Equipment President Alastair Robertson Dies

Longtime MEWP industry veteran and advocate Alastair Robertson, president of Universal Equipment in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, died Jan. 30, 2019. He was 69.

Robertson, who was born Oct. 28, 1949, started in the MEWP industry in 1981 as a sales manager for Simon Aerials, which was subsequently purchased by Terex, followed by roles at Economy Engineering (acquired by Snorkel), Snorkel, Grove Manlift, and Skyjack. He then worked at S and R Equipment, JLG’s dealer in Chicago, from 1991 to 1995.

GMG Expands to Australia

GMG, a 2018 LLEAP award winner with headquarters in the U.S., announced it is entering the Australian market to directly sell its full line of electric slab scissors, rough terrain scissors, and boom lifts.

GMG USA has established a fully owned subsidiary, GMG Platforms Australia Pty Limited, to offer sales, training, and product support. The company appointed Martin Eade as its sales manager there.

Access equipment provider and 2018 LLEAP Award winner GMG Inc. appointed a director of global operations and a European product support manager.

Craig Braun was named as the director of global operations. Braun brings his experience in manufacturing, operations, and logistics to join the GMG team, most recently serving as the managing director at a global manufacturing company.

Braun and his team will be responsible for all aspects related to manufacturing of existing and new GMG models, quality control, testing and certification, on-time delivery, and more.

GMG's I-Power integrates all the safety components on electric slab scissors into one system to communicate with each other and interpret the operator’s actions in order to enhance performance and safety. The abilities of GMG's I-Power system reduce maintenance needs by preventing over-amping of electrical components and extending battery life. This allows GMG to provide a two-year warranty for batteries on machines with I-Power.

New Aerial Platform Maker Focuses on High Quality, Low Price

GMG, Global Machinery Group, Inc., an American company with locations in California and The Netherlands has entered the global aerial work platform industry.

GMG’s focus is on equipment used in the rental markets, including access, earthmoving, and industrial equipment.
