New Lifters to Roll Out at World of Concrete

Several manufacturers of aerial work platforms, mast-climbing work platforms, and material-lifting equipment have said that they will unveil new or improved models at the fast-approaching World of Concrete 2016 trade show in Las Vegas, Nev.

The event will be held from Feb. 1-5, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Educational sessions start Feb. 1, and the exhibition opens its gates on Feb. 2., as some 1,400 exhibitors display their products for the concrete and masonry industries. Total attendance is expected to reach about 55,000.

A Maeda mini-crane recently helped move materials beyond a tower crane's reach. On an addition to the St. David’s Medical Facility in Austin, Texas, the tower crane couldn’t access the farthest corner of the structure. The stage steel beams, the tower crane hoisted a Maeda MC 285 mini-crane to the roof. Erectors found the mini-crane was much faster at assembling the steel because of its close proximity and precise placement.

JV Trucking & Rigging LLC, Manalapan, N.J., has perched the Maeda mini-crane atop a 1,020-ft tall high-rise luxury condominium building that’s going up in Manhattan. The 75-story building is reportedly the tallest residential building in the city, as well as the city’s tallest building that uses only concrete for its structural members.
