Chicago Cubs fans got a blast from the past this summer when the marquee at the Illinois baseball team’s home stadium was painted green and gold to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Benjamin Moore used three Skyjack machines to repaint the iconic marquee back its original green-and-gold colors when the sign was first installed in 1934.

Painters used two SJ 6832RT scissor lifts and a SJ 66T boom lift to reach the giant marquee as they painted it Mallard Green and French Quarter Gold.

I’m proud to recently have earned a PAL card, verifying that I’ve been trained to operate scissor and boom lifts safely. I’m not likely to work in an aerial lift often, but I will get the chance to run one in order to evaluate how it operates, position it for an event, or reach a work site while researching an article.

Skyjack has added the SJ6832E RTE electric rough-terrain scissor lift to its product line. The machine has four-wheel drive, 45% gradeability, and 16-hp AC brushless electric motor as standard design. To simplify operator and service training, the SJ6832 RTE was built on the same chassis as the existing diesel and dual fuel 68RT units. "The learning curve is pretty much nil for this machine," said Brad Boehler, president of Skyjack.
