This week, I visited Skyjack, where I learned that the company will be introducing an 80-something foot articulating boom lift, a 5,000-lb. telehandler, and a 12,000-lb. telehandler in the next few months. Although details about the new machines were not yet available, the news that they are coming is exciting.

Rummaging through a drawerful of research information and other interesting tidbits of knowledge I’ve collected, I rediscovered a business card-sized handout from a Joel Barker seminar about paradigms.

Linamar Corporation’s Skyjack division has launched a new range of telehandlers. Designated the TH series, the four new telehandlers replace the existing VR telehandler series.

In this Lift and Access equipment review, Barry Greenaway shows the features and benefits of the 8,000-pound capacity Skyjack SJ843 TH telehandler.

Skyjack will first show its TH-Series telehandlers to the public next month at World of Concrete. The four new models in the new range include the 6,000-lb. capacity SJ643 TH, the 8,000-lb. capacity SJ843 TH, the 10,000-lb. capacity SJ1044 TH, and longer boom 10,000-lb. capacity SJ1056 TH. See specs here.

Ideal for bridge construction, power plant services, and heavy construction, Skyjack's ZB2044 telescopic handler is in a class of its own. With a maximum capacity of 20,000 lbs., the Skyjack ZB2044 forklift features a three-section boom for a lift height of 44'. Robust, rugged, and reliable, the ZB2044 telehandler offers unparalleled jobsite productivity for forklift operators, and its superior maneuverability and mobility make it the perfect substitute for heavy cranes and material handlers.

Heavy Telescopic Handler Showdown

Only about a decade ago, 10,000-lb. telehandlers were the largest commonly seen telehandlers, but engineering feats over the years have more than quadrupled these machines’ capacities. The 2012 Lift and Access Showcase & Symposium featured walkaround demonstrations of four larger telescopic handlers that ranged in capacity from 10,000 to 30,000 lbs. Telehandlers featured in the demonstrations included the 10,000-lb. capacity JCB 510-56 Loadall, the 12,000-lb. capacity JLG G12-55A, the 20,000-lb.
