First Potain Hup 32-27 Self-Erecting Crane Delivered in Iceland

BYGG has taken delivery of a Potain Hup 32-27, the first one delivered to its home country of Iceland.

The company has already placed the newest-generation, self-erecting crane on a job site in Reykjavik, where it is helping to build a residential development.

BYGG specializes in building residential real estate and chose the Hup 32-27 for its 4 t capacity and 32 m maximum radius. The Hup range has been especially beneficial for these types of construction projects due to its ease of transport, quick set up time and easy-to-use, remote-controlled operating system.

At Bauma 2016, Terex Cranes reintroduced the Demag brand to the mobile crane market, unveiled several new pieces of equipment, and highlighted its latest machine innovations and features.

With the reintroduction of the Demag product line, which includes 11 all-terrain cranes ranging from 100 to 1,200 tonnes capacity, and seven crawler cranes ranging from 400 to 3,200 tonnes of capacity, Terex had the Demag AC 130-5, AC 220-5, and AC 250-5 all-terrain cranes on display at the show.

A Maeda mini-crane recently helped move materials beyond a tower crane's reach. On an addition to the St. David’s Medical Facility in Austin, Texas, the tower crane couldn’t access the farthest corner of the structure. The stage steel beams, the tower crane hoisted a Maeda MC 285 mini-crane to the roof. Erectors found the mini-crane was much faster at assembling the steel because of its close proximity and precise placement.

The new Trump International Hotel & Tower in Vancouver, British Columbia, is an impressive structure.
Scheduled to open in 2016, the 63-story, twisting luxury tower made of glass and steel will hold 218 homes, 147 hotel rooms, and 15,000 sq. ft. of event space, as well as spas, bars, and high-end restaurants.
One challenge for the contractors on the iconic building project was how to assemble a steel canopy piece by piece at up to 70-ft.

Potain Igo T 130 Finds New Home in Stephenson Equipment Fleet

Stephenson Equipment has purchased a Potain Igo T 130 self-erecting crane, which it plans to include in its expansion plans into western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Dennis Heller, president and CEO of the Harrisburg, Pa.-based company, said that the company will first use the Igo T 130 as a rental crane to help expands its reach in new territories before it goes up for sale to customers.
