Cargotec Appoints Leadership Team for Standalone Hiab

Cargotec’s board of directors has approved a new leadership team for Standalone Hiab, effective April 1, 2025, pending the successful completion of the company’s transformation project.

The team consists of current Hiab leadership members, ensuring continuity as the company transitions to an independent entity.

Cargotec's transformation project, which has progressed as planned since 2023, includes the proposed sale of its MacGregor business and the rebranding of Cargotec as Hiab.

The name change will be voted on at the General Meeting of shareholders on March 26, 2025.

Once finalized, Cargotec President and CEO Casimir Lindholm and the current leadership team will step down.

New Leadership Team

The Standalone Hiab leadership team will be led by:

  • Scott Phillips, president and CEO
  • Mikko Puolakka, executive vice president and chief financial officer
  • Marcel Boxem, interim president of loader cranes, heavy and superheavy
  • Michaël Bruninx, president of services
  • Hermanni Lyyski, president of demountables and defense
  • Barry McGrane, president of truck-mounted forklifts
  • Martin Saint, president of tail lifts
  • Magdalena Wojtowicz-Tokarz, president of loader cranes, light and medium
  • Sanna Ahonen, executive vice president of business excellence and sustainability
  • Ghita Jansson-Kiuru, executive vice president of human resources
  • Birgitte Skade, executive vice president of marketing and communications
  • Taina Tirkkonen, executive vice president and general counsel
  • Scott Phillips, interim executive vice president of business operations development

The appointments of Phillips as CEO and Puolakka as CFO were previously announced on May 27, 2024.

Leadership Transition

“The leadership team of standalone Hiab consists of very experienced and knowledgeable industry leaders, who have extensive background in Hiab and its operations," Cargotec Chair, Ilkka Herlin, said.

"The team has done excellent work over the past years, and I’m confident that the company’s progress and results will further improve going forward.”

Herlin also acknowledged the contributions of Cargotec’s outgoing leadership team, expressing gratitude for their role in advancing the transformation project, which included the listing of Kalmar as a separate company and preparing Hiab for its independent future.

The transition marks a significant step for Hiab as it continues its growth and development as a standalone entity.
