EUFMC Sessions to Include ANSI Update, Fleet Trends

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The 65th annual Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference (EUFMC), to be held June 3-6 at the Williamsburg Lodge and Conference Center, will feature educational sessions provided by experts on a range of topics, including fleet electrification, maintenance strategies, disaster response, an ANSI 92.2 update, and more. 

The keynote address will be presented by Danny Lindsey, senior vice president of Georgia Power. He is responsible for the planning, design, operations, and maintenance of Georgia Power’s distribution and transmission systems. Jim Abbott, former MLB pitcher, will serve as the guest speaker, sharing his lessons of overcoming obstacles and achieving his dreams.   

The General Session educational program of the conference, which has a theme of “Strategies for Managing a Safe, Productive, and Cost-Effective Fleet,” will feature presentations by fleet executives, industry experts, and manufacturer representatives.

The topics and speakers for the 2018 General Session will include:

  • ANSI Update: Josh Chard, Altec and Chairman ANSI A92.2
  • Dielectric and Acoustic Testing: Will Russell, Diversified Inspections
  • Insource vs. Outsource Parts: Todd Carlson, Southern California Edison; Brian Johnson, Alabama Power
  • Cell Phone Distracted Driving: David Teater, FocusDriven
  • Fleet Electrification: Mark Smith, U.S. Department of Energy
  • Legal Issues: James B. Hood, Hood Law Firm  
  • Insource vs. Outsource Maintenance: Dan Remmert, Ameren Illinois; Derek Hoopman, Oncor Electric Delivery; Kyle Jones, Consumers Energy
  • Disaster Response: Cliff Edwards, Pike Electric; Marty Wright, Pike Electric
  • Human Performance: Mariela Perez, Duke Energy

The EUFMC will also include utility equipment demonstrations and an equipment show with more than 60 displays of vehicles, equipment, components, and a wide range of technologies and services.

In 2017, more than 120 utility fleet representatives and over 325 representatives from manufacturers and service providers attended the event.
