A major change is coming to the commercial vehicle technology conference that opens Work Truck Week each year. Organizers announced that Green Truck Summit will become Future Truck Summit beginning in 2027.
The update was announced by Emily Korns, chair of the education committee for NTEA – The Work Truck Association and president of J&J Truck Bodies and Trailers.
The revised event will be developed in collaboration with the NAFA Fleet Management Association and will feature expanded programming focused on commercial vehicle technology. Topics are expected to include fuels, software, hardware and on-vehicle systems that affect vehicle efficiency, safety and durability.
Since launching in 2009 as a one-day event focused primarily on hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles, Green Truck Summit has expanded to address a broader range of technologies affecting commercial vehicles. Sessions at the 2026 event included topics such as data use, connected vehicles and artificial intelligence.
“As we evolve the content, we are also evolving the name to reflect that the Summit has become about much more than alternative fuels,” says Steve Carey. “Future Truck Summit will provide attendees with fresh perspectives and insights into rapidly changing vehicle technology, hardware and fuel types so they can successfully position their businesses to capitalize on the opportunities that will be presented over the next five years and beyond.”
Organizers say the Future Truck Summit program will include greater emphasis on vehicle-focused technologies, including sensors, advanced driver assistance systems, lightweight materials, advanced composites and power management.
The conference will continue to take place at the JW Marriott Indianapolis in Indianapolis on the Tuesday before The Work Truck Show exhibit hall opens. The program will maintain its existing structure of keynote and general sessions in the morning followed by afternoon breakout sessions.
“The collaboration between NAFA and NTEA will result in an unmatched educational program for anyone involved in the work truck industry,” says Bill Schankel. “Combining our fleet knowledge and experience with NTEA’s deep connections to the manufacturer and upfitter segments of the industry will enable us to create sessions that deliver cutting-edge technical information, real-world applications and actionable steps for fleet managers, upfitters, truck dealers and other commercial vehicle industry professionals.”
The first Future Truck Summit is scheduled for March 9, 2027, with registration expected to open later in 2026.
