No Hand Shaking Encouraged at 2020 ConExpo-Con/Agg as Coronavirus Spreads

One week before the start of the 2020 ConExpo-Con/Agg in Las Vegas, the largest construction trade show in North America with more than 130,000 attendees from around the world expected, show officials are encouraging a “no handshake” policy as COVID-19, commonly known as coronavirus, continues to spread in the U.S.

AEM, the organizer of ConExpo-Con/Agg and the co-located IFPE Show set for March 10-14, is providing buttons and stickers to attendees and exhibitors to remind them to not shake hands. Some exhibitors are choosing to print their own for staff and customers. Graphics can be downloaded here.

Show officials say they are closely monitoring information from the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about the virus, and they are taking necessary steps and precautions to promote a safe show.

Hand sanitizer will be available in all registration areas, media rooms, information stands, the international trade center, meeting/education spaces, workforce, and VIP areas. Further, staff will also be cleaning those areas more frequently, especially tables, keyboards/screens, and door handles. There will also be hand sanitizer stations located throughout the grounds.

“Ultimately, we encourage everyone to make responsible decisions and stay home if they are sick,” said Dana Wuesthoff, ConExpo-Con/Agg show director.

Held every three years, ConExpo-Con/Agg is a must-attend event for construction industry professionals. The show features the latest equipment, products, services, and technologies for the construction industry, as well as industry-leading education.

IFPE focuses on the latest innovations, product advances and expert insights to fully equip engineers and others involved in the design and manufacturing process to increase efficiency, contain costs and improve the performance of their hydraulic and pneumatic systems and applications.
