Snorkel to Supply 60 Boom Lifts to U.S. Government

Oct. 6, 2021 - Snorkel reports that it has received an order from equipment sales and service specialist Alden Equipment Inc. for 60 A46JRT articulated boom lifts.

The order, received in April 2021, will be delivered by Alden to an undisclosed U.S. Government customer and will be shipped to a number of locations in the U.S. and internationally. Snorkel is assembling the boom lifts at its factory in Elwood, Kansas.

Founded in 1979, Alden Equipment, Amsterdam, New York, started out as an equipment repair company before branching into equipment sales.

In 2008, it entered into a long-term contract with the U.S. Government for the international supply of material handling equipment, and in 2015 obtained three long-term DLA HEPP contracts.

Alden is a trusted provider of forklifts, aerial lifts, batteries and chargers, warehouse equipment, and parts and service for customers in all time zones, and are a Government and special projects dealer for Snorkel lifts.

The Snorkel A46JRT is a proven and globally popular articulated boom lift, known for its long working life and exceptional working envelope. It can reach a working height of 52’11”, a horizontal outreach of 24’11”, has zero tailswing, and has a 5’ jib for excellent platform maneuverability in confined spaces.

The A46JRT lifts in this U.S. Government order feature a new dual envelope that has 650-lb. unrestricted capacity and 750-lb. capacity when working within a restricted envelope.

The machines also have updated upper and lower control panels, as well as a new 72”x30” aluminum platform with saloon-door entry gates and high-grip flooring.

Equipped for a range of environments and applications, the lifts have been fitted with options that include an aircraft package, tow kit, light package, extreme-environment package, cold-weather package, battery warmer, and power and air lines to the platform. The rigs are painted in custom colors and feature reflective tape.

Charles Barber, sales manager at Alden, secured the order. He said, “We are incredibly pleased to secure this initial order for 60 Snorkel A46JRTs for our U.S. Government customer. The Snorkel A46JRT is ideal for their project, and I would like to express our thanks to Mike Coleman and the Snorkel team for working with us to adapt the lifts to meet [the government’s] exact requirements.”

David Smith, president of Snorkel’s Elwood factory, said, “This is a significant volume order for Snorkel A46JRT’s, and I speak on behalf of our team in Elwood, Kansas, when I say that it gives us tremendous pride to build products that are destined for use for by U.S. Government agencies on home soil and abroad.”
