Terex Utilities Hosts 47th Annual Hands-On Training

Terex Utilities hosted its 47th annual Hands-On Training event in August at the company’s Watertown, South Dakota, facility. The program brought together customers, dealers and rental partners to operate Terex digger derricks and aerial devices in real-world applications.

“This year we condensed the training into two days, which allowed us to hold two events,” said Tori Worley, senior manager of customer experience. “We also added a session on in-service protocols for digger derricks and bucket trucks. This allowed for attendees to become familiar with the different elements of our equipment, including how to setup the machines, before operating them.”

A total of 71 participants from across the United States and abroad rotated through 10 training stations. The digger derrick sessions included digging holes, setting poles and installing screw anchors. Aerial device training covered tasks such as transformer replacement, three-phase lifts and insulator changes. Participants also received instruction on top controls.

“Hands On is geared toward anyone who works for a utility or one of our partners – whether they are a fleet manager, mechanic or work in the office,” Worley said. “The training allows for those who do not work in the field to have a better understanding of how the equipment is used and operated.”

One attendee described the 2025 training as “an incredible experience,” adding that the structure of the program kept participants engaged and that Terex staff were “incredibly informative and overly nice.”.
