In a world of biennial and triennial trade shows and economic forecasts, we tend to spend a lot of our lives planning for the future. For example, we know that throughput at U.S. ports is on an upswing and should continue to improve in the next few years as global economies—therefore, freight volumes—recover, and ports continue to prepare for the Panama Canal expansion project to be completed in 2014.
