The Adrenaline Rush from Break Bulk Handling

44 years in the business, Tim Chapman stepped down in January as president of Western Stevedoring, Vancouver, British Columbia, having spent 20 years at the helm. After witnessing many dramatic and dynamic changes in the business of international trade, shipping, and the waterfront industry, he said, “It won’t be easy to leave.”

Chapman started with Western Stevedoring in 1978 as marketing manager and later moved over as manager of the company’s Lynnterm Terminal in 1979. One of his proudest achievements, he says, was turning around a failing enterprise and helping to make Western Stevedoring a major break bulk handler on the West Coast.
