As of Oct. 1, the former Scaffold Industry Association (SIA) has changed its name to the Scaffold and Access Industry Association (SAIA). I’ve heard skepticism from some in the aerial work platform business about how well the renamed organization will actually represent our segment of the industry. I think the SAIA’s name change is an eff ort to recognize the access segment of its membership, and is a promising fi rst step. Even more encouraging, the vote to make the change was overwhelming.
